Slope

Overview: You will learn how to find the answer to a y- slope intersect problem with little information to start with.
Slope is;
                          1. The tilt or inclination of a line
                     2. The ratio of vertical change to horizontal change
                     3. The change in y over the change in x
                     4. Rise over run

Picture

Step 1

Picture
Put the numbers in groups.

Step 2

Picture
The y integers go on top and the x integers go on bottom. Also, you find the difference between the 2 number ( on top and bottom).

Step B

Picture
Then, You "run"; go across 2.

Step 3

Picture
Find out what
-2-3= and what 6-4=.

Step 4

Now that you know that -5/2 is the slop, you have to graph it

Step A

Picture
Since your suppose to do rise over run; you go down 5 first because it's a -5.

Step C

Picture
Draw your arrow. Now you have you slope!

Step 5
Now that you have graphed the slope, well, that's your answer!

Finding the Slope of a Line

Equation to Use:

Picture
The 2 and 1 under the y's  and x's mean the first and second integers.

Step 1

Picture
Label what the integers are so you won't get confused in the future

Step 2:

Solve the equation.

Step A

Picture
Fill the numbers into the equation.
Put these numbers in place of the equation

Step B

Picture
Solve what you just did.

Step 3: Write your answer- The slope of the line is -5/-2.
