Probability

Overview: On this page you will learn what  probability is and how it is used in a problem. Probability is the likeliness of a event occurring out of a total number of total events.
Example: If you had a die with six sides and you wanted to know what your chances were of rolling a 3, you would make a fraction. The fraction   would be 1/6 because there are six sides but the 3 is only on one side.
Step 1: Figure out your total  number chances of rolling a 3.
3 is only on one side so you only have one possibility of rolling that number.
Step 1: Figure out your total  number chances of rolling a 3.
3 is only on one side so you only have one possibility of rolling that number.

Step 2: take that number put into a fraction by the total number of sides.
The total number of sides is six so the fraction would be 1 out of six.

Step 3: take the fraction and turn it into a ratio.
so it will be 1 to six.

Step 4: optional: divide 1 by 6 =
Answer: the probability of rolling a three is  one to six.

You can use the exact same method on any problem.
