Overview: You will learn how to change percents into fractions. You will learn how to change fractions into percents and percents into decimals. You will learn how to turn decimals into fractions and how to solve real life problems.


Changing percents into fractions.

Step 1: Change percent into decimal dividing it by 100


Step 2: Changing decimal into a fraction: Since there are 2 digits in 75, the very last digit is the "100th" decimal place. So we can just say that .75 is the same as 75/100, and since 75/100 isn't reduced, you need to find the GCF which is .25 and then you divide 75 and 100 by 25. and you will come out with 3/4.



Example: .75= seventy-five hundredths = 75/100 = 3/4


Changing fractions into percents.

Step 1: Change fraction into percent by dividing the numerator by the denominator.


Example: seventy-five hundredths = .75


Step 2: Change decimal into percent by multiplying it by 100


Example: .75 x 100 = 75%


Real life problems.
You go to the grocery store to get food for the party tonight you buy $700 dollars worth of food then you find a coupon on the floor that says "if you spend at least  $600 you get 50% off. How much money will you save if you use the coupon?


Step 1: Put 700 and .50 in a multiplication problem then how ever many numbers are behind the decimal you add the decimal that many numbers


Example: 
                 700
              x  .50
              350.00 or 350


Answer: $350


You and your friend eat a pie. You eat 25%. Your friend eats 56%. How much of the pie is left over.


Step 1: Add 25% and 56%. Then take 100% from because every whole is 100%. 


Example:

               56              100
          
   +25              - 81
               81               19
Answer: 19%
